Saliva guitarist Wayne Swinny dead after brain hemorrhage
One of the band Saliva's original members, Wayne Swinny, was
declared dead on Wednesday following what seemed to be a brain hemorrhage.
The band confirmed earlier in the day that their guitarist
had been admitted to the ICU and was battling for his life, TMZ said.
Wayne passed unexpectedly this afternoon while on tour due
to a spontaneous brain hemorrhage, a band representative told the site.
59-year-old Swinny was initially taken to the hospital in critical condition and identified as having a "spontaneous
hemorrhage" in his brain. Band members Bobby Amaru, Brad Stewart, and Sammi Bishop
formed the group in 1996. The band's lead singer, Amaru, stated, "I'm not even
sure what to think or how to feel right now. "My heart hurts for Wayne's loved ones, his pals, and
everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. My heart hurts for his daughter
Nikki. He said, "He loved that little girl so much. From the group's formation in 1996, Swinny was the only
member who had regularly performed with it. Saliva's music was in the "Nu Metal" subgenre,
which combines heavy metal with rap-like lyrics. Josey Scott, the band’s
original lead singer, had claimed various hip-hop musicians as influences on
his composition and delivery. Saliva’s last album, “10 Lives,” was published in 2018. The band’s tour was planned to travel to Fort Wayne, Ind.,
on Thursday and Wyandotte, Mich., on Friday.
