Packers RB Aaron Jones on Aaron Rodgers' offseason rumors: 'I hope he is not going nowhere'
Packers QB Aaron Rodgers talks with Jets, is ‘open’ to playing in New York
- With Derek Carr finalizing a contract with New Orleans and Geno Smith re-signing with Seattle in the 2023 offseason, the quarterback dominoes have started to fall.
- Aaron Rodgers is still the huge fish in the deep water since he hasn't revealed his intentions to the public. If so, when? Will he visit Green Bay once more? Trade demand?
Even if rumors about the Packers wanting to move on have
started, at least some of Rodgers' teammates don't want to see the four-time
MVP wearing another uniform.
Aaron Jones remarked on Tuesday's episode of Good Morning Football on NFL Network, "I hope he is not going nowhere. "Particularly not in Vegas. I really hope that doesn't happen since you know that he played with Tae (Davante Adams). I'm hoping he's back since he's my quarterback. We are prepared to play ball with him if he returns. If not, Jordan Love is more than talented, prepared to play ball, and poised to take a shot."
At the very least, Rodgers has shown that it is folly to attempt to discern his plans. Before agreeing to a significant new contract last year, the quarterback seemed to be moving on. All signs point to him playing this offseason, but for the first time in his career, possibly in a different location. Only Rodgers currently knows what and when his final choice will be.
If Rodgers chooses to play home games somewhere other than Lambeau Field, the New York Jets have been the team most associated with him. The most sensible fallback plan for Gang Green if Rodgers rejects a New York overture was eliminated by Carr's signing in New Orleans.
Big Apple fans are eagerly anticipating a decision, but Jones would prefer that they refrain from interfering.
As of right now, he's in Green Bay if he returns to the field, Jones said. "I absolutely keep reading it wherever the Jets want him. "I do not want him to leave. One of those seasoned quarterbacks is available for you guys, Jets supporters. With Jimmy G, they can win because he is a winner. I enjoy Jimmy G."
