Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher Issue Apologies for Letters Supporting Danny Masterson: We Stand with Victims
In letters they sent to the judge overseeing Danny Masterson's sexual assault case, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis referred to their "That '70s Show" co-star as a "role model." They have now apologized in public for their actions.
In a video posted on his Instagram on Saturday, Kutcher says, "We are aware of the pain that has been caused by the character letters that we wrote on behalf of Danny Masterson."
We stand with victims. Kunis, who is seated next to husband
Kutcher in the video, continues, "We have done this historically via our
work and will continue to do so in the future. Then, according to Kutcher, the Masterson family asked him
and Kunis to write character letters to "represent the person that we knew
for 25 years." More than 50 people, including Kutcher and Kunis, wrote to
the judge in the Masterson sexual assault case to express their support for the
actor before his sentencing. Debra Jo Rupp, who played Kitty on the Fox sitcom,
and Kurtwood Smith, who portrayed Red, are two other "That '70s Show"
actors who contributed letters. Danny takes his job seriously, according to a quote from
Kutcher's letter. He works diligently and with kindness. He treated everyone
equally, including the caterers, actors, teamsters, and grips. Danny has
consistently been a fantastic role model.
