NBA Finals: Miami Heat roar back in fourth quarter to level series against Denver Nuggets

For Game 2 of the NBA Finals, the Miami Heat changed the players in their starting lineup, but it turns out that their main change was to attempt more shots. On Sunday night at Ball Arena, the Heat overcame the Denver Nuggets in a comeback victory, 111-108, to gain home-court advantage and tie the best-of-seven championship series at one game each. The outcome saw the Nuggets suffer their first home playoff defeat, dropping to 9-1 at Ball Arena in the postseason.

The Heat won in Denver for the first time since 2016 in Game 2. "Our guys love to compete," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said after the victory. In those crucial moments, they adore putting themselves out there. Fortunately, we were able to come up with a number of significant defensive stops in the last minutes, and we also received lots of contributions, which are essential when playing against a club like this.

His team were down by as many as 15 points, down eight going into the fourth, and seemed to be careening towards another defeat. Denver were 11-0 in the postseason when leading by double digits, and they surely weren't going to let up now.

The Heat, however, didn't care. They outscored the Nuggets 17-5 in the first 3:17 of the fourth to take the lead. Butler made a jumper with 4:56 left in the opening quarter to put Miami up 21-10, tying the second-biggest lead any opponent had built in Denver so far in these playoffs.
