LIGHT THE BEAM: SACRAMENTO KINGS END 16-YEAR PLAYOFF DROUGHT
The Sacramento Kings' postseason drought is over, so turn on
the beam. The Kings' 16-year playoff drought has come to an end after their
120-80 victory over the Portland Trailblazers on Wednesday night.
“I guess this would be like relief. People can’t keep saying
it. It’s over and done with,” Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox said to ESPN. “We
want to do bigger things. But [16] years, it’s a long time. It feels great to
get it off of us.”
Fox scored 18 points and six assists, Damontas Sabonis added
15 points and 12 rebounds, and sniper Kevin Huerter had 17 points to help the
Kings get back into the playoffs. Malik Monk dropped 19 from the bench.
Head coach Mike Brown remarked, "We want to offer [the
fans] a lot more than we've already given them because they're more than
deserving of it." "And you know, you could sense it's a proud thing
when you have a fan base that's as intellectual, rather passionate about not
only their club but also their community. You are enthusiastic about giving
them the entire world. Although we want them to rejoice, we also have higher
expectations for ourselves and what we can do for them.
